How to Sew a Cat Kicker with Refillable Catnip Pouch

In my first sewing YouTube tutorial, I show you how to sew a cat kicker with a refillable pouch for catnip. In all the tutorials I found on how to make catnip kickers, none of them offered a way to refill with catnip. And if you wash it, the catnip is likely to be ruined. My oldest cat, Caffrey, loves catnip and kickers, so I really came up with this pattern for him.

This project is extremely easy and perfect for someone with little to no sewing ability (like me). In the tutorial, I use 1/4 of a fat quarter (approximately 9″ x 10.5″) but you can make them longer if desired. If using cotton fabric, I like to interface this piece to make it stronger. Any lightweight to midweight interfacing is fine.

You also need a piece of scrap fabric that is the same width (9″) and about 3.5″ to 4″ long. The length doesn’t change if you decide to make your kicker longer. And finally, you need a piece of hook and loop tape (about 3″) and some stuffing.
